last day of school

I can’t believe Jocelyn is done with second grade!  Crazy to think that she will be in 3rd grade next year…and Eli will be in Kindergarten!  I am so proud of Jocelyn.  She had a terrific year.  She has made a lot of new friends and also has flourished in her reading and math skills.  She also enjoyed art and PE this year too.

We love you and are so proud of you Jocelyn!!

A few weeks ago…

I let the kids sit outside to eat these GIANT pixie sticks that we won at an Egg Hunt.  Outside was the only place I was going to let them have one.  Well, it started to sprinkle when they got outside and they wanted to stay out there so they could eat them.  Since it was only raining and no lightning, I let them sit out there.  We made a little tent for them with the table and some umbrellas.  They sat out there for about 45 minutes.  All three of them were laughing and having a blast together in their little hide out!

From the look on Eli’s face, his pixie stick must have been pretty sour!

Eli’s Preschool Graduation

Eli had his preschool graduation on Tuesday night.  They started off by singing some songs, one even brought tears to my eyes.  Some of the words were

“Graduation day is here, graduation day is here!”

“Kindergarten here I come, Kindergarten here I come!”

Then the kids left to change into their caps and gowns.  They all walked in to the graduation music and then were called across the stage one at a time to recieve their diplomas and a prayer rock!  It was an awesome night!  We are so proud of you Eli!  And we love you very much!

Eli and his teacher.  She is also the director and one of the kindest, caring people I have ever met!  Eli was so fortunate to have her as his teacher over the past 2 years.

Young Family Bible Study

Brian and I started a young family bible study at our church in the fall.  I have to say that it is one of the best things I have done at our church.  We are just finishing up “Laughing Your Way to a Better Marriage”. I would HIGHLY recommend it.  It is a great bible study.  It brings laughter into some issues that are in every marriage.  I look forward to going to bible study and spending time with the other couples in our group.  Our children also look forward to spending time with the other kids.  Brian and I have really learned a lot about marriage and how to improve many aspects of our marriage…I don’t think any marriage is perfect, but it is constantly something to strive to make better.  I think that this a great way to talk about marital issues in a positive environment with others who have the same morals and values as we do.  Growing up, I always had this stereotype of couples who did these church bible studies and of the bible study materials.  I was so wrong.  And us being so positive about this bible study is carrying down to our children.  We are such important role models for them and I want to imprint them with these morals and values at this young age!  I pray every day that we are making the right decisions for them!

Our first Royals game of the season!

Ever since we moved down here, Brian and I have been Royals fans!  Yeah, they haven’t been the greatest, but this year they are playing pretty good.  And the new Royals stadium is AWESOME!  Brian went to opening day with his friends, so yesterday was our first game of the season as a family.  First of many, I might add! 🙂

It was Build  A Bear day at the K, so each of the kids got a LION…looks like Slugger!  We spent the 2 hours before the game at the Outfield Experience.  It was a lot of fun, but crazy busy with all the families there.  The kids rode the carosel (sp?), played mini-golf, and Eli tried his skills at the Little K.  Then we found our seats and sat down to enjoy the game…well as much sitting down as parents can with three kids.  “I’m Hungry” “I have to go potty”  “I need napkins”  At one point, I had just taken Jocelyn to the bathroom, sat down and realized that Audrey needed a diaper change!  BUT we had so much fun! The kids were very good and to top it off the ROYALS won!!!  We also got to run the bases after the game.  The stadium is beautiful and being on the field , you see it in a whole new perspective!  I will download some pics when I get a chance!

My little Audrey

Audrey definitely has a mind of her own, and it doesn’t matter what anyone else says, she WILL do what she wants!  Gotta love the independence…well at least Ebony does!  The other day, Audrey and Eli were playing in the backyard and I was cleaning the kitchen and watching them through the window.  There was another dog running around the neighborhood and kept running around the outside of our fence trying to lay play with Ebony.  About 30 minutes go by and Eli came inside to get a drink.  I popped my head outside to see what Audrey was doing and I see her and Ebony in our neighbors backyard.  Ebony walking, with her tail wagging and very excited, with Audrey beside her.  I said “Audrey, what are you doing?”  She said “I taking Ebony to play” and she continued to walk.  I ran after them and she started running away from me with Ebony saying “Come on Ebony”.  I just had to yell Ebony’s name and she turned around and came back..luckily Audrey followed the dog!  Oh, Audrey…sneaking off at age 2…what does the future hold? 🙂

news chopper 9 visits the school

The local news channels have helicopters and one of them came to visit Jocelyn schools a few weeks back.  News Chopper 9 and Johnny Rowlins landed the helicopter on the playground and came inside to talk to the kids about tornado safety.  Lisa Teachman, one of the meteorologist, also met him at the school.  I took Eli and Audrey up there to see it land and then we also watched it take off.  The loved it!

Campout with Jocelyn

Jocelyn’s girl scout troop went camping along with the other 2nd grade troop.  We “camped” in cabins…so not roughin’ it too much! 🙂  Daughters and moms spent an evening of activities together!  It was great to get the troops together since most of the girls in the 2nd grade are in Girl Scouts.  The girls had a blast and so did us moms.  We had beautiful weather and the cabins were really neat.  The girls spent the night in one cabin, along with 2 courageous moms, and the rest of us moms slept in the other cabin.  I only took a few pictures…here they are!
