A couple funny stories

Last week, the tornado sirens went off in the middle of the day and the kids and I went downstairs. We were down there for a while and we were watching the weather coverage on tv. Eli asks me “Why do they keep talking about touchdowns when there are tornadoes around here?” He cracks me up! 🙂

And here is an Audrey story…
On Sunday morning Brian was trying to get Audrey to get up and get dressed. We had put out her clothes for her and she said “I am too tired to get them!” Brian says “They are only about 5 feet away” And Audrey says …laughing “Daddy, I only 2 feet, not 5!”

I love what comes out of their mouths sometime!! Thanks kids for making us laugh!!
🙂

Audrey’s turn

It is Audrey’s turn to start playing sports!  She had been telling us all winter that she wanted to play baseball like Eli.  So we signed her up for TBall.  They have only had a couple of practices because of all the rain.  She had her first game last weekend and she loved it!  She loved hitting and running!

Ready to play ball!

Running out to hit the ball!

Getting ready to bat!

Running to 1st base

I helped cover 1st base while the girls were batting!

I had to make sure they knew where to run next…most of them have never played baseball before, but they all did such a great job and they had big smiles on their faces!!

Running home!

I can’t wait for her next game!

Crazy Hair Day

Audrey had crazy hair day at school.  She loves that she gets to have these fun “spirit” days too!

I asked her if she wanted to spray it different colors and/or do crazy ponytails.

This is what she decided on!

Now that is some crazy hair!

Baseball

Eli started playing machine pitch baseball this spring.  He has had a lot of fun!  He got to play catcher too.  He did a pretty good job!

I need to bring my camera to the next game so I can get some pictures of him batting and playing the field!

Royals games

We have been to a few Royals games this season.  Luckily they won the games we went to. 🙂

Our first Royals game of the season!

What is Audrey concentrating so hard on???

She was tying a knot in the twizzler!

Ryder

Jami and Ryder came down to visit for a weekend in April.  Jami had some work here on Monday, so the kids were able to spend some time with Ryder.

It was a beautiful weekend.  It was very warm outside…especially for April!

We had a great weekend together!

Soccer

Eli is almost done with the spring season of soccer.  He has had a good season an I am so proud of him!  He loves to play soccer and he really puts a lot of effort in to it!  He really enjoys goalie, but not for the entire game because he likes to score some goals too! 🙂

Ready to play goalie!!

I love watching him play soccer!

Spring Break

I took the kids to Iowa to visit family over Spring Break.

We spent the first few days at Brian’s parents and then headed to my moms house for the end of the trip.

Brian’s parents have some bird feeders in their backyard…we all love to sit and watch the variety of birds that come to the feeders.  The kids (well, Jocelyn and Eli – ’cause Audrey is my girl who sleeps in!) wake up in the morning to sit and watch the birds.  Since I don’t wake up at the crack of dawn like they do, Brian’s mom took this picture for me.

I also stopped to see my sister at work and get my haircut.

Jocelyn got her hair straightened and her make up and nails done!

I LOVE her hair like this!  Now if she would only let me use the flat iron on her hair!

Showin’ off her nails!

Audrey had her hair trimmed and then curled.

She also got her nails painted

And she picked orange nail polish!

Eli sat in Jami’s office and played solitaire!

We went bowling with my mom, sister, Ryder, my grandma and my grandpa.

I am so blessed that my kids have such a great relationship with my grandparents!

(guess I didn’t get any pictures of Audrey bowling, maybe my mom did!)

We also went to visit my other grandma.  We picked her up and took her to Dairy Queen for dessert!  When Jami and I were little, she used to take us to DQ EVERY time we were with her!  So we love that our kids now share this special treat with her too!

Love it!

And then we tried to get a picture of my mom with the 4 grandkids!

We never did get one that was GREAT, but they still make me smile!

We had a great week up there visiting everyone!  We spent time with Mark and Deb…which will soon have a new baby!  I can’t wait to have a new niece or nephew!!  I also got to see my cousin at her new house!  And I also was able to spend some time with my best friend Emily!  I miss her often and I am so glad that we still stay in touch and try to see each other when we can!

Thank you to all of our friends and family that helped us have a good spring break!

🙂

Jocelyn’s Birthday Celebrations

Look at that cute cupcake cake!  She wanted it tye dye looking!  I think it turned out AWESOME!!

Jocelyn had her party with friends on a Sunday afternoon.  We invited the girls over at 1:30.  At the school’s silent auction I had won a girls party makeover.  So…it was perfect for a group of 1o year olds!  They got manicures, and not just painting nails, they soaked their nails, worked on their cuticles, had their hands massaged and then chose their paint and nail art!

Jocelyn and Malyssa soaking their hands!

Kaitlyn, Addy and Laiken soaking their nails.

(She was missing one of her good friends…she was sick! BUMMER!)

Still working on nails, but had to have some fun magazines to read and some yummy snacks too!

Jocelyn got her hair straightened and the she put tinsel in it.  I guess this is a new fashion!!  Looked pretty cute!

All done and ready to head out for a celebration dinner!

Zio’s for dinner!  Jocelyn’s favorite place to eat!

They even got their own table…

They loved the waiter and he was so good with the girls!

Then we headed back to our house to have cake and open presents!

Lighted the candles (love this picture!) and sang happy birthday to my girl…who is now in double digits…makes me feel kind of old! 🙂

Made a wish and blew out her candles

We also went out for breakfast on the day of her actual birthday since I was taking the kids to Iowa for some of their spring break!

We drove up to Iowa that night of her birthday, so we celebrated at Brian’s parents house too!

Happy Birthday to my first born Jocelyn Faith!

Love you!

And I still can’t believe that I am old enough to have a 10 year old!  Where does time go?

Fish stocking at the park lake

Every spring, one of the parks that is close to us stock their lake with fish.  I have never taken the kids before, but I decided to take Audrey this year.  It was very cool.  This big truck …

I had no idea at this point how they were getting the fish from the truck to the lake…

they had a net and scooped the fish from the truck.  The park workers (not sure if they were police, safety or what) would take one and let the kids around see and touch them.  I would have taken a picture of Audrey by the fish, but she wouldn’t go near anyone with a fish!

Then they put all the fish in there the quickest way…

They attached a tube to the truck and then they came flying so fast out of that tube and into the lake.
