Omaha Zoo with Jocelyn’s troop

Every year, before GS cookie sales start, our ttoop comes up with their goals and what they would like to do with their spend portion of the cookie money!  This year they decided that they wanted to spend the night in the aquarium at the Omaha zoo.  We went last week and had a blast!!

Their education staff were great!  They started off the evening by showing them this bear skin and talking to them about some different animals.

Jocelyn’s troop (minus one!)

We went to see the giraffes on our morning hike before the zoo opened!

The giraffe was getting a drink.  I was so cool to see so up close!

Jocelyn and some of her friends in the aquarium!

We had a zoo keeper come show the kids a baby shark.

The baby shark.

Jocelyn in the shark tunnel.

Jocelyn and I – Do we look tired?  I think I only slept for about 3 hours that night!

Jocelyn looking for something in the desert dome!

Jocelyn and Laiken

The orangatang wanted our drinks that we had!  It was so funny!

Up close and personal with the lions!  We actually went a night hike the night before and we the lions were up moving around quite a bit.  Crazy to see these big cats when the zoo is closed and it is dark outside!

So beautiful!

Jocelyn with the polar bears…we can’t wait until the polar bears come to the KC zoo!

I took this just before this gorilla came running to the window and pounded on it!

You can see it in his eyes!

We went into the butterfly pavillion…it was so cool!

I love this picture!  I have seen a butterfly doing this…

I can’t believe I got such a good picure of Jocelyn smiling!

We had such a fun time together! I am so blessed to be able to spend time like this with Jocelyn.  She is growing up way too fast!

Our first Royals game of the season

We took the kids to their first Royals game of the season.

I finally got a pircture of the kids with this statue!

Funny faces!

Audrey was excited because she got on the elephant, but Eli was mad because he didn’t want to ride on that bat and ball!

We had a good time at the game, even if they did lose!  It went in to extra innings.  It rained on and off, but our seats were underneath the overhang.

Family trip to the zoo

We get a family membership to the KC zoo every year and usually the kids and I go throughout the year on weekdays when Brian is at work.  So we took a day a few weeks back and all 5 of us went to the zoo together!

Audrey’s favorite animal – the “ephalents”!

Watching the elephants  while we ate lunch.

Riding the train

I love these kids!

Just a few good pictures!

My little rockers!  Audrey playing the drums and Eli playing his “marshmellow shooter” as a horn!

Eli dressing as some sort of a bug –  Look at those eyes!

Volunteering…

So, if you ask Brian (and many of my friends), they will tell you that I work more now than I did when I had a full time job.  I have been one of Jocelyn’s girl scout leaders since she was in kindergarten.  I really do enjoy it and I think Scouts is a WONDERFUL program for girls.  It may be one of the best activities you can put your daughter in.  I volunteer a lot of my time to trainings, meetings, etc.  I attended the annual meeting and volunteer rocognitions luncheon this year.  Many of our volunteers were recognized at our council wide event.  Great to see!  On that following Monday, my co-leader Angie, and I were recognized for what we have done in our service unit.  I was so surprised and thankful!  We were nominated by our service unit manager and she had several others write letters about what we do.  It was such a great feeling!  And most of all, I hope that I make a positve impact on all of these girls lives!

Easter

Easter morning – bright and early!  We had been up late the night before and then we got up for early church service.  BUT they had to find all the goodies that the Easter Bunny left for them!

Looking for eggs

Looking for those last few eggs!

Audrey with her goodies!

Jocelyn with hers

And Eli!
